Levels of Care

Understanding the Difference Between IOP and OP Addiction Treatment

Beginning a journey of recovery can feel like stepping into uncharted territory, but knowing the difference between levels of care empowers you to choose wisely. With intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) and standard outpatient treatment (OP), you are supported in recovery while remaining connected to your everyday life. Statistics show that effective outpatient programs can lead to meaningful success: for example, many IOP programs report success rates in the 50-70% range for participants maintaining abstinence or showing marked improvement.
Alcoholism and Women

IOP offers a higher-intensity structure for those who need more frequent attention. This includes 9 hours of group therapy every week. Our program also offers individual therapy, case management and drug screening. This added structure helps build coping skills, strengthen peer support, and reduce early recovery risk.

OP, while less intensive, provides valuable flexibility for those who complete our IOP treatment. While in this program, clients will still receive access to 3-6 hours of group therapy per week, individual therapy, case management and drug screening. With fewer required group therapy sessions per week, it allows people to integrate recovery work alongside school, work, or family life while still receiving professional guidance.

Both pathways have strong benefits: IOP gives the rigorous scaffolding needed early on, while OP supports growth, independence and long-term stability once the foundation is in place. We offer OP to provide continued support for clients who have successfully completed IOP but would still like to receive robust services.

Who’s Appropriate For Our Program?

Our admissions team has created a robust process to ensure that individuals who join our program are not only appropriate for virtual treatment, but also our level of care. In order to set clients up for success, they must above all, have a desire to actively participate in treatment. If the client has the courage to ask for help and is actively willing to participate in our program, our admissions team will need to consider other qualifying factors. These include:

^
Client is actively sober or able to maintain an approved harm reduction method
^
Access to technology (laptop, tablet, smartphone)
^
Stable living environment
^
If a client is experiencing active psychosis, we will likely need to consider a mental health primary treatment program before being eligible for Soulful Recovery
^

Active insurance

Soulful Recovery is not a one size fits all program, nor are the clients who join our services. We do hold true to the core philosophy, if a client has the courage to ask for help, then we have the responsibility to help them find it. Whether it is with our program or one of our community partners, our team is determined to help those in need of addiction treatment support.
